Chopped: Secret Basket #3 (My Week!)

Finally my week has come... The last few weeks I have been stressing/using my thinking cap for every possible ingredient they could ever pack in my basket... well guess what didn't think of these 4 things!

My Basket:

• Root beer
• Fish sticks
• Crescent Rolls
• Bell Peppers

We had 24 hours to brainstorm to come up with the best way to combine these ingredients in a decent meal.  Honestly, how do those chefs do it in 20 minutes? This is what we did!

Mini-Puff Pastries filled with Brie and Pancetta

Grapefruit, Basil, Pepper, Vanilla Rum Martini (My Favorite Part of dinner)

Fish Stick Pot Pie with Root beer Gravy and Fish Cake (like a crab cake) with Root beer Habanero Sauce

I have to say, it was kinda good, kinda weird, and kinda worked! I wonder what Geoffrey, Amanda, and Aarón would think?

Today is April 20th, 2012, and today is a VERY important day!  If you don't already know Samantha Wyman, Samantha, Herself is turning 25!  I hope she doesn't mind I just shared her age... oops, but a quarter of a century is a big achievement and it needs to be known! If you know Samantha, you know she is always on a quest to be a combination of Lauren Conrad, Mary Kate & Ashley, and Martha Stewart and she made all 4 very proud this last weekend!

Last Friday, when California decided to be cold and drizzly in the middle of Spring, Samantha was prepared with the perfect drink!  Hot Butter Rum, this was a delicious drink of spiced butter, rum, and steaming hot water.  It was delicious, buttery, spicy, and most important spiked with good old Captain Morgan's Rum (Classy)!  Samantha - you need to share your spiced butter recipe with us ASAP.

The Marquee...Drinks, Apps, and Friends!

The Marquee has become our new favorite place to get drinks and appetizers before a night out or going to dinner! I guess we are growing up... Hanging out by the theater! They have great drinks, simple and delicious appetizers, and the perfect atmosphere!

Drinks:

42nd Street: The boys' favorite, which they quickly pour into a cup on ice to have a more "manly" feel!

Makers Mark Bourbon Manhattan, garnished w/ brandied cherry

Chili-infused Absolut Vodka, white peach puree, mixed berry puree & pineapple juice

Sauza Hornitos Tequila, Licor 43, pineapple juice & fresh lime juice
